New Block of the Month “The Vintage Flower Sampler

Our lovely new BOM, The Vintage Flower Sampler” is a seamless mix of patchwork and applique in a fresh color palette. We hope you will join us at each first Saturday of the month for a short demo on techniques and to pick up that month’s kit. Each month you will receive one patchwork block and one applique block. Make sure you pick up the rules with your first block.

If you have purchased the Kimberbell Clear Blue Tiles for computerized quilting, this is a class for you. We will make the Seasonal Houses Runner one week and then Quilt the runner the following week using the designs that come with the Clear Blue Tiles. Kits will be available for $20.00. Pre– order yours by Saturday, May 4. You can bring your own kit, but everything must be pre–cut according to the directions in The Clear Blue Tiles. Bring a lunch or snacks if you want, and if you haven’t purchased the Clear Blue Tiles yet we can still get you one.

Summer Block of the Week, 2024 “Pen and Paper Sampler”
The Quilt Basket is again offering our annual summer “Block of the Week”. I am so excited with this summer’s selection, “Pen & Paper Sampler”. You are going to love it! Details will be available later, watch your email for more information. For now, I will just go over the basics of the BOW.
Week #1 kit is ready for pickup beginning Tuesday, June 4. Weekly kits will first be available on each successive Tuesday. You may pick up any time during the week. Our hours are Tuesday thru Saturday 9:30am—4:00pm. The final Week #12 begins August 20. If you are unable to pick up a kit in its “debut” week, please call and prepay and we will gladly hold it for you.

“Pen & Paper Sampler” Kick Off

You Choose!.......Sue Spargo’s “ROOTED or TINSEL” Session 2

Have you ever wanted to tackle a Sue Spargo project? TINSEL and ROOTED are small studies that take you on an artistic journey of wool appliqué and embroidery techniques. Learn basic background layering techniques for wool and cotton fabrics and how to add textural stitching bringing your small quilt to life. Adventurous students may elect to tackle both at the same time at no extra instruction cost.

Sopapillas

Sopapillas is a fun, scrappy Quilt as You Go project that you’ll love making!
In this class you’ll learn how to cut, sew, stuff, quilt and join each of the little Sopapilla squares to create a quilt in whatever size you wish.
The process looks complicated but prepare to be amazed as to how easy it is! We’ll have a few hours to learn the entire process.
This Quilt as You Go project can easily be taken with you on the plane, train or automobile. Or, to keep your hands busy while you bask at the pool.

Heart-to-Hand “Glorious Wool Bowl Fillers” (sheep, bunnies, flowers & chicks)

A perfect class for wooly beginners and great fun for experienced wool workers too! Spend a few hours transferring patterns of your choice. Students will cut the wool, appliqued the wool shapes and embroider simple stitches to embellish their work during the class. Visit the Quilt Basket to see the class samples. Determined students will likely finish their project in class.

Cookin’ In Color Serger Apron
Instructor: Kathy P
Whip up a perfectly color blocked apron with your serger. This apron has two pockets on the front, one is obvious, and the other is hidden with a zipper. There are some serger tricks and tips sprinkled in the instructions and this is very beginner friendly. While making this project you’re going to gain many skills and discover exciting techniques you can achieve by using your serger, such as: Decorative Rolled hem inserting a zipper and achieving perfect corners.
This class is for the BERNINA L series, 450, 460, 850, 860, and 890. A piping foot and pattern will be needed.

Yorkshire Buttons

A portable craft that can add a lot of pizazz to fabric, wool, and multimedia textile projects. Yorkshire button weaving is three–dimensional fun, colorful and can be done on the fly….in front of the tv, on the airplane and waiting in line. Students will learn how to do free standing whipped woven circles using a hand template (thread wheel). Students can bring their own thread and size 16 tapestry needle but will be required to purchase the template.

Learn to Serge “Make a T–Shirt”

This class is for the student that has a little experience with using a serger and wants to learn how to make a Grainline Lark T–shirt. We will learn some serger basics as well as how to use a coverstitch with our Bernina and bernette sergers. This class will not be about pattern fitting or how to cut out a pattern but rather a t–shirt will be precut according to the student’s size with the focus on how to serge and to put the shirt together.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES
You may pre–register for classes either at the shop or by mail. Phone registration may be made with either Visa or MasterCard. If you would like us to mail your receipt and supply list, include a self– addressed stamped envelope.
Seven day cancellation policy
Many of our clubs and classes have a class fee or they are free if you have purchased your sewing machine or software from us. All our classes require you to cancel seven day prior to your class for a refund. For example, if your class is on a Saturday, you must cancel by the previous Saturday. The “seven day cancellation” includes all free classes that require pre–registration. We do require pre–registration on some of our free classes; an example is our mastery class and Embroidery Club. The pre–registration helps the instructor prepare for the class. The Sewing Room policy on mastery class is; your scheduled mastery class continues whether there is one or five in the class, you do not have to worry about cancellation due to the number of students in the class.
Refundable cancellation policy
Classes that ask for a refundable deposit must be in cash or check. To receive your refund you must attend the class or cancel 7 days prior to the class, e.g. a Saturday class must be cancelled by Saturday.
