The Art of Hand Appliqué Helen • Beginners Welcome Learn the art of needle–turn appliqué by stitching this elegant crossed tulip design. You’ll practice stems, curves, points, and inside corners. To make it even easier, the class fee includes a kit with the fabrics and threads.

Machine Binding Demo Pam Varner Learn the difference between straight and bias binding and when to use it. Learn an easy method of piecing binding strips for perfect alignment. Sew the front on by machine and measure your binding for a perfect ﬁt every time. Learn how to miter the corners and then sew the binding to the back by hand OR learn an easy way to machine ﬁnish for
a fast and easy binding.

You will take home a lovely sample of your work to show off to family and friends. $20.00 2 sessions 1 ½ hour Monday, Oct 5, 12 10–11:30 Machine Appliqué Pam Varner • Beginners Welcome The look of hand appliqué with the speed of your machine; learn how to make appliqué shapes and then sew them on with your machine. Pam will give your tips and tricks for easy turning and getting pieces to lay ﬂat. Add dimension anywhere you want by “stufﬁng” your shapes. 1–3:30 PM Finishing for Beginners Sally Now that your quilt to is completed let’s turn this quilt top into a quilt. We will make a little “quilt sandwich” and practice stitch in the ditch as will as free motion quilting basics. Using only the walking foot, learn techniques for quilting that will make your projects look professional. Different threads, needles and marking tools will be explored. Discover the secrets to stitching in the ditch or add a simple decorative stitch. This class is ﬁlled with tips galore to help you design and quilt your own tops. We will be making this popular little foot stool… but instead of a permanent cover we will be making it removable and with some machine Appliqué! Being able to change the cover out for the room or the season or to match your next quilt is a fun way to add personality to your décor. Take it off and throw it in the wash! My youngest daughter will be getting a tuffet and a matching lap quilt for her apartment this Christmas.
