In this class we will cover using a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat….then move onto sewing an accurate ¼” seam. We will learn to make seven different blocks that you can use over and over to make an infinite variety of your own quilts. You’ll learn the stitch as well as how to make sharp points, smooth curves, and perfect circles. You bring the background and we’ll supply all the appliqué fabric, threads and a sampling of needles and pins. Fabric kit included in class fee. $40.00           2 sessions 2½ hours Thursday, Feb 2, 9           10–12:30 English Paper Piecing Cindy • Beginners Welcome One of the biggest rage in the quilting industry is English Paper Piecing. It was very popular many years ago and it has come around again. A wonderful and easy technique to learn with Cindy’s help. Paper piecing is a technique you can do while watching TV, sitting in the waiting room, attending sports activities, etc. Make a quilt or a craft project, there are so many patterns available. Cindy will teach you the basic steps to English Paper Piecing. $15.00           1 session 1½ hours Saturday, February 11           1-2:30 Classic Looped Scarf Kathy This is the perfect class for the new or experienced serger owner. In this class we will create a one of a kind classic looped scarf. Discover how easy it is to use your serger to create an overlock, flatlock and rolled hemstitches with 4, 3, and 2 threads. We will learn the basics about fabric and how to use a pattern to create your one of a kind pants in this class. Learn partial seaming, efficient cutting and sewing, and a great assembly method as you make a complex-looking but oh-so-easy baby quilt. $40.00           1 session All Day Wednesday, March 15           10–4 Free Motion Quilting Kathy • Beginners Welcome I CAN QUILT! Learn the basics of Free Motion Quilting on your home sewing machine. We will cover the tools for successful quilting as well as quilting out a sample of your stitches. Any machine is welcome as long as you can lower the feed dogs. Come prepared to have FUN! $25.00           2 sessions 1½ hours Wednesday, March 22, 29           1–2:30 Flower Power Nubin Come enjoy an all day class and learn a couple different ways to appliqué. You can choose to appliqué by hand or machine. You can choose to use all cotton fabrics or you can “shake it up and pump it up” by using some wools and other textural fibers. This class is for confident beginners and beyond. Grab a friend and come have a fun day sewing at the Quilt Basket! $40.00           1 session All Day Monday, April 3           10–4 Beautiful Binding Helen • Beginners Welcome Achieve smooth bindings with perfect corners and learn a great method for joining the ends. Practice sewing angled and scalloped edges and try new “gourmet” bindings, such as two-color and faux piping. You’ll build a useful sample book of bindings that you can refer to again and again. There is a $15.00 kit fee that is paid to the instructor. $40.00           1 session All Day Friday, April 14           10–4 “Kick up Your Heals” Table Runner Wool Appliqué for Beginners Cathy • Beginners Welcome If you have always wanted to learn the art of wool appliqué or just need a refresher, this is the class for you! Cathy will show you all the tips, tricks, tools, and techniques for this simple and traditional version of hand appliqué; all while you stitch this lovely Old Pueblo-inspired, Seasonal Table Runner. Quilters of all skill levels are welcome. The pattern & optional wool kit will be available for purchase before the class.
