Machine Quilting with Walking Foot Pam Varner • Beginners Welcome Create interesting designs without free motion. Using only the walking foot, learn techniques for quilting that will make your projects look professional. Different threads, needles and marking tools will be explored. Discover the secrets to stitching in the ditch or add a simple decorative stitch. This class is filled with tips galore to help you design and quilt your own tops. Urge to Serge: Serger Smocking Mary • Beginners Welcome Create an elegant pillow out of silk and linen using your serger. We will use the chain stitch to create delicate shirring and then add piping and a zipper using the multipurpose foot. If you do not have the chain stitch on your machine, one will be provided for your use during class. Machine Binding Pam Varner Learn the difference between straight and bias binding and when to use it. Learn an easy method of piecing binding strips for perfect alignment. Sew the front on by machine and measure your binding for a perfect fit every time. Learn how to miter the corners and then sew the binding to the back by hand OR learn an easy way to machine finish for a fast and easy binding. Come and enjoy some old fashioned string piecing and some easy wool applique and embroidery. There are only four embroidery stitches used to embellish the teacups and teapots; a backstitch, a chain stitch, a colonial knot and a bullion stitch. The finished box will be about 4” diameter and 4 ½” height. Machine Appliqué Pam Varner • Beginners Welcome The Look of hand appliqué with the speed of your machine; learn how to make appliqué shapes and then sew them on with your machine. Pam will give you tips and tricks for easy turning and getting pieces to lay flat. Add dimension anywhere you want by “stuffing” your shapes.
